A Tale of Words, Love, and Finding My Voice: How I Met My Husband
It’s funny how life works
sometimes. They say love finds you when you least expect it, and for me, that
couldn’t be truer. I wasn’t looking for love when I met my husband.
There I was, doing what I do
best, minimizing myself in conversations even though I had so much to say. I
was just going about my day, speaking my mind, sharing my thoughts, and making
my usual observations about life. Little did I know, the very things I had been
trying to minimize about myself—my voice, my opinions, my unapologetic passion
for conversation—would be the things that caught his attention.
He didn’t just listen; he loved
the way I talked. It wasn’t just my voice or the way I formed sentences, but
the way I expressed my views and stood firm in what I believed, even though I
tried to downplay it.
He saw right through my attempts
to be small in a world that often tries to make us feel like we don’t have much
to offer. He would tell me
how captivating my ideas were, how my perspective made him rethink things, and
how my passion for what I believed in was nothing short of infectious.
And yet, despite his words, I
found myself holding back, minimizing the very qualities that made me, well,
me. Why? Because
somewhere along the way, I’d convinced myself that I was too much. Too
outspoken, too opinionated, too passionate.
It’s funny how we often shrink
ourselves, dim our lights, and suppress our gifts, thinking it will make us
more palatable, more acceptable. We believe that by minimizing ourselves, we’ll
fit in better, be more likable, or avoid stepping on toes.
But in reality, we’re just hiding
the very things that make us unique, the talents and skills that the world
needs. This doesn’t just happen in personal relationships; it happens in
business, too. This mindset cripples businesses, stunts brands, and keeps
individuals from reaching their full potential.
The online space is vast and
open, filled with opportunities to express, create, and connect. But
self-doubt? Oh, that’s the gatekeeper. It stands there, whispering in your ear,
“Are you sure you’re good enough? What if no one cares about what you have to say?”
And it’s in those
moments that many of us choose to step back rather than step up.
But here’s the thing my husband
made me realize: The world needs your voice. The business world needs your
skills, your brand needs your unique touch, and you need to stop minimizing the
greatness that’s already inside you.
Overcoming self-doubt isn’t about
suddenly waking up with all the confidence in the world. It’s about recognizing
the value of what you have to offer and daring to share it, even when it feels
uncomfortable.💗
